Mortal Kombat 1 has been one hell of a wild ride, a game I have enjoyed immensely as you can read about in My Mortal Kombat 1 Review. This whole new Mortal Kombat series which started all the way back with Mortal Kombat 9 has been amazing. The last DLC pack is here on July 23rd and it features a new character in Takeda and a new Kameo Fighter in Ferra.
Takeda was introduced back in Mortal Komba X where he was known as one of the “Kombat Kids” He is the son of Kenshi and it is awesome that they have brought him back here. The fact that he uses these very cool whips with blades makes him such a fun character to play as and it also means in typical Mortal Kombat fashion, things get very bloody. It makes me laugh when I play the newer Mortal Kombat games with how bloody and gory they are and no one bats an eyelid, but back in the early 90s, people were freaking out over Sub-Zero’s fatality.
As well as Takeda, Ferra is the next Kame Fighter to be released. Ferra was also in Mortal Kombat X and he was part of a duo, Ferra & Torr and they had this symbiotic type relationship. The Ferra Torr story in Mortal Kombat X was one of the things that I found most interesting and it was something that I always wished they went a bit deeper in to be honest with you as I always felt that there was more story to be told here. With the release of Takeda and Ferra, that brings the DLC of Mortal Kombat 1 to a close, but it does look like there could be more!
Mortal Kombat 11 with its Aftermath DLC was huge so it would not be surprising to see that kind of massive expansion here again. I am all for some more story as the story told in the Mortal Kombat games is the best story of any fighting game. It has been said that more information about what to expect next for Mortal Kombat 1 will be shown at San Diego Comic Con later this summer, however, a few leaks have popped up that claim to reveal the next DLC fighters.
A dataminer apparently found out that the Mortal Kombat 1 Kombat Pack 2 will contain, Cyrax, Sektor, and Noob Saibot from Mortal Kombat, but there are also three celebrity/guest characters too in Ghostface, Conan, and the T-1000. To be honest, none of these would be that shocking, Mortal Kombat has had a lot of fun with guest characters and already Mortal Kombat 1 has had some in the form of Omni-Man and Homelander. I would honestly love to play as all three of these guest characters. On the Mortal Kombat front, if I am being brutally honest, Cyrax, Sektor, and Noob Saibot would not have been in my top five Mortal Kombat characters that I would like to have seen added to the game. Still, this is not confirmed yet, but it does look like this could be the way things are going.
What are your thoughts on Mortal Kombat 1? Were you happy with Kombat Pack 1 and will you buy Kombat Pack 2 if it is the characters “leaked”? Be sure to leave your opinions in the comments section.
