New Open World Tomb Raider Game Sounds Great

I am a massive Tomb Raider fan and while I do think that Shadow of the Tomb Raider was the weakest of the last trilogy, it was still a good game. Many of us had been wondering what was happening with the series. We got the Tomb Raider Trilogy collection (which was done far better than the Batman Arkham Trilogy Collection on Switch) and that was cool. However, what about a new Tomb Raider game?

Tomb Raider, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider gave us a more gritty and “real” kind of Lara Croft. She was such a badass all while still being very easy on the eyes. These games were great and I have played through them multiple times. Yet, they were not the first Tomb Raider reboot, we also got the Tomb Raider Legend, Tomb Raider Underworld, and Tomb Raider Anniversary series of games which were fun in their own right and really brought the series back after the less than stellar Tomb Raider The Angel of Darkness.

Well, thanks to well known video game news leaker, V Scooper, we now may have an idea of what we can expect from the next Tomb Raider game. It appears that Crystal Dynamics is still the team in charge and that is something I am thrilled about as I feel that they have done a great job with the last few Tomb Raider games. One of the most interesting things about this leak was that the game is said to be open world. Exploration has always been a huge part of the Tomb Raider series and while some games did feature large areas to explore, we have never had a fully open world in a Tomb Raider game before so that does sound interesting.

It says that we will have free use of Lara’s motorcycle and parachute to get around the map. That is kind of cool as Lara on a motorcycle has always been badass, but it has usually been just a specific section in a game. V Scooper was asked about some kind of release date and while they did not know for sure, sooner than later does seem to be what they were thinking, possibly within a year. I think that this is awesome news and I hope that we get a trailer soon. It has also been rumored that India will be the setting for the game which again is something I think is very cool. This could lead to a very diverse kind of map for us to explore.

Exploring and finding extra treasure has been a fun part of the last few Tomb Raider games so I am very interested to see how they are going to pad this open world out. I have no doubt that the story missions will be great as they usually are. However, for them to pull off an open world Tomb Raider game, they will need to have some fun and exciting side content to make this open world worth exploring.

I would love to know what your thoughts on the rumored new Tomb Raider game are in the comments section down below.

  1. I couldn’t agree more! An open world Tomb Raider game sounds like a fantastic idea. It would give players the chance to fully immerse themselves in the world of Lara Croft, exploring new environments and uncovering hidden treasures. I can’t wait to see what adventures await in this new game

  2. I was hoping we’d get a new game that was more like the classics. It could work out in a open world environment, have the game be more focused on exploring and collecting artifacts in open worlds filled with caves, tombs, etc. Less focus on the survival parts would be better in my opinion. Either way, getting a new Tomb Raider game would be exciting!

  3. I love the Tomb Raider games and knowing that there is going to be an open world game is great! I love open world games and mixing that with Tomb Raider, I can only imagine just how amazing it will be.

Open world seems to be very popular so I see this going down well.

  4. An open-world Tomb Raider sounds epic! Crystal Dynamics has nailed Lara’s character in recent games, so seeing them expand into a fully explorable world is exciting. The idea of using Lara’s motorcycle and parachute freely adds a dynamic layer to gameplay. India as a setting promises rich, diverse environments, which could make exploration even more thrilling. Fingers crossed for a trailer soon—can’t wait to see how they elevate the franchise!

  5. If they didn’t make the Tomb Raider game to be an open world set up, I’m not sure if I would be interested in playing it to be very honest. When a game comes with being an open world design, it gives you more room to explore and that’s definitely more fun to play.
