Last year I talked about which Persona 3 Collector’s Edition was best as there was a collector’s edition for Persona 3 Reload in the Person 3 Reload Aigis Edition and Limited Run Games also did one for Persona 3 Portable. Persona 3 Reload was released in February and so far as I write this, it is my game of the year! I will go one better than that, I would even say that it is one of the best video game remakes of all time and it makes me want them to make a Persona 4 Golden remake.
We all know that Persona 6 is coming. Thanks to the mainstream success of Persona 5 Royal, I would say that this is the most prominent that the Persona series has ever been! That game did so much for the series, in many ways, I feel that it did for Persona what Final Fantasy VII did for Final Fantasy. Persona 5 Royal (and the base Persona 5 to be fair) were amazing and I could not be any more excited for what Persona 6 will offer.
Persona fans have been treated very well lately. We got the re-releases of Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden, the Switch got Persona 5 Royal, we also got Persona 5 Strikers and Tactica and there is even a popular mobile Persona game that I hope comes to the West. I like many other people felt that Persona 6 was a lock in for 2025 as Sega/Atlus would want to strike while the iron was hot, but that does not look to be the case.
A prominent leaker who has gotten a great deal of stuff right when it comes to Persona, Atlus, and Sega has said that there are no plans for Persona 6 in 2025 and that 2026 is when Persona 6 will be released. I will be honest, this is kind of a bummer as this leaker has been right many times before so I would be more shocked if this did not turn out to be true. Of course, you have to wonder, if there is no Persona 6 for two years, what will Atlus and Sega have in store for 2025? While they have said no to the female protagonist or the FES content being added to Persona 3, I would be more shocked if we did not get a second release of Persona 3 Reload with more content as they did with Persona 5 Royal. There has also been a little bit of rumbling over the possibility of a Persona 1 or 2 remake, but not on the grand scale that they did with Persona 3 Reload.
With Persona being one of the premier Sega franchises now, I do not see any way that they are going to go the rest of 2024 and 2025 without some kind of Persona release. If the rumors are true that the new Nintendo console is going to be coming out in 2025, I could see that getting a port of Persona 3 Reload as that game was not released on the Switch.
What are your thoughts on Persona 6? Do you think 2026 is when we will see it and what would you like the game to be like? Be sure to let me know in the comments section down below.
