Playstation Plus Price Increase

PlayStation Plus is getting a bit more expensive. However, this doesn’t apply to all subscription options. Only the one-year subscriptions, which are relatively the most cost-effective when you consider the monthly cost, will see a price increase starting from September 6th. After that, the annual subscriptions will still be the best deal, although slightly less attractive than before.

Here’s an overview of the new prices:

PlayStation Plus Essential 12-Month Subscription – €71.99 €59.99 (+20%)

PlayStation Plus Extra 12-Month Subscription – €125.99 €99.99 (+26%)

PlayStation Plus Premium 12-Month Subscription – €151.99 €119.99 (+27%)

As mentioned, even after the price increase, the one-year subscription remains the best deal in terms of monthly cost.

For a one-month PlayStation Plus subscription, you’ll pay 8.99 Euro, while the new price of a one-year subscription comes down to 5.99 Euro per month.

For a one-month PlayStation Plus Extra subscription, you’ll pay 13.99 Euro, while the new price of a one-year subscription comes down to 10.49 Euro per month.

Finally, PlayStation Plus Premium costs 16.99 Euro for one month, while the new price of a one-year subscription comes down to 12.66 Euro per month.

  1. The increase in the price of PlayStation Plus one-year subscriptions can be seen as a negative development for current subscribers, as it means they will have to pay more for the same service. But there are few other factors that we can consider like the annual one is still the best option; The price increase is reasonable considering the improvements they keep bringing; Probably it’s the best price to keep considering the market competition; Also it might be to check the consumer reaction.

  2. Yea, I’m seriously considering dropping to the cheapest PSPlus plan once my current Premium is over. I don’t want to pay an extra $40 or so increase for almost no benefit to me. We’ll see how things go.
