Ubisoft has faced criticism for its decision to make a Star Wars Outlaws mission featuring Jabba the Hutt exclusive to players who purchase the game’s Season Pass. The mission, titled “Jabba’s Gambit,” will only be accessible at launch for those who buy at least the $110 Gold Edition of the game.
Season Passes are a common practice in the gaming industry, often offering additional content that isn’t available at the game’s release. However, the inclusion of a fully developed mission like Jabba’s Gambit in the Season Pass has drawn ire from some players who argue it should be part of the base game.
Responding to the backlash, Ubisoft clarified that while Jabba the Hutt and the Hutt Cartel are integral parts of the Star Wars Outlaws experience, the Jabba’s Gambit mission is optional and additional content. According to a statement from a Ubisoft spokesperson, the mission follows the journey of characters Kay and Nix across the Outer Rim and will be available exclusively to Season Pass holders or those who purchase editions containing the Season Pass.
To clarify, Jabba the Hutt and the Hutt Cartel are one of the main syndicates in Star Wars Outlaws and will be part of the experience for everyone who purchases the game, regardless of edition.
The ‘Jabba’s Gambit’ mission is an optional, additional mission with the Hutt Cartel along Kay and Nix’s journey across the Outer Rim. This mission will be available to those who purchase the season pass or an edition of the game which includes the season pass.

There has been confusion surrounding whether the mission will eventually be available to all players or limited to Season Pass holders. Ubisoft has yet to confirm if owners of the Standard Edition of the game will have access to the mission in the future.
Star Wars Outlaws, developed by Massive Entertainment, is set to release on August 30, 2024, for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Players can opt for the Gold or Ultimate Editions to gain access to the Season Pass content, including the Jabba’s Gambit mission, or subscribe to Ubisoft+ for early access and additional benefits.
