We can’t sell the broadband until you have an active line

… and so it begins, my relationship with Sky. I ordered a phoneline and broadband package. All I want is broadband but I have to have the phone in order to allow this. Okay, fine. I accept that you must put a phone line in, but I’m not going to use it. All I want is my fucking internet.

“We can’t sell the broadband until you have an active line.” What do you mean? That doesn’t make sense. I don’t have an active line now, but I have placed an order with you for an active line.

“Once you have an active line we’ll be able to sell you broadband.” I get that, but you already sold me broadband. How’s about you send me the router now then it will be ready for when you activate the line and broadband.

“We can’t send you the router until you sign up for broadband” (I already have) “so there will be a slight delay before your router arrives.” How much of a delay are we talking? WHAT DO YOU MEAN TEN WORKING DAYS!?

Ten working days. On top of the remaining five days before the line is installed. Oh, internetz! Why hast thou forsaken meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee???
