SPECIAL: The Best Racing Games of 2023

In this special, we’ll list the best racing games of 2023 that you MUST try out!

It’s not always easy to find the right game. The selection is overwhelming, making it difficult to separate the wheat from the chaff. In this article, we list the racing games that, in our opinion, are currently the best on the market. These can be games for any platform.

By the way, this is not about the all-time best games, but rather the best newer games you can play in 2023. It’s also not a definitive list because we regularly update it as new titles are released. So be sure to come back and take a look when you’ve played all the games in this special.

Forza Motorsport

It took quite a while, but we finally got a new Forza Motorsport. Microsoft’s racing game is still the more serious counterpart to Forza Horizon but is by no means less fun. If you want to race with the best cars on some of the most recognizable tracks in the world, there are few better places to do so than in Forza Motorsport.

Gran Turismo 7

In 2023, you can still have fun with Gran Turismo 7. In addition to online racing, you can engage in the recurring single-player campaign, where you must complete various challenges to unlock other cars and circuits. Players who play on the PlayStation 5 can also enjoy new features within the franchise, such as ray tracing and the use of haptic feedback in their DualSense controller.

Forza Horizon 5

Forza Horizon 5 needs almost no introduction, as the game had the biggest launch for an Xbox Game Studios game ever, with more than 10 million players in its first week. Players can race in an open world based on Mexico, the largest map in the entire Forza Horizon franchise so far. In addition to racing and the Horizon Arcade (featuring minigames), players can also experience an improved version of the Eliminator Battle Royale, introduced in the previous edition.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered

People nostalgic for Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit had reason to celebrate in 2020. It became the first game in the Need for Speed franchise to receive a remaster, marking the game’s tenth anniversary. Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered includes all DLC content, enhanced visuals, and cross-platform multiplayer.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

Mario Kart games are classics, and Mario Kart 8 certainly lives up to its predecessors. In 2017, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was released, a re-release of the previous game on the Wii U, but for the popular Nintendo Switch. Over the years, the game received various software updates, resulting in a greater number of circuits and game modes. Players clearly love this version, as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is currently the best-selling Switch game of all time with more than 48 million units sold.

Dirt Rally 2.0

For gamers who are into rallycross, there’s Dirt Rally 2.0. You can imagine yourself as a rally driver on various circuits in different countries, including Argentina, Poland, Spain, and the United States. In addition to a rallycross mode where you compete in the FIA World Rallycross Championship, there’s also a My Team mode where you make strategic decisions about your car to achieve the best possible results.

iRacing

iRacing is an online racing simulator that aims to simulate real racing as accurately as possible. You can use a controller, but it’s recommended to use a racing setup that you can calibrate to perfection. Many race drivers use the game for training. iRacing also offers a wide range of licenses that players can subscribe to, enhancing the overall experience.

Assetto Corsa Competizione

Assetto Corsa Competizione is another racing simulator widely used in esports. The game primarily focuses on GT3 and GT4 racing. However, gamers can also play offline against AI, engaging in an offline career mode and creating their own races and championships.

F1 23

F1 23 introduces an extensive hub for Formula 1 games called F1 World, where you can take on various challenges to improve both online and offline. With the return of Braking Point, there’s even a full-fledged story mode in the game. Moreover, F1 23 looks better than ever, offering a high level of realism in various ways. Thanks to the official license, you can race against real F1 drivers and cars on the official circuits, both online against other players and offline against AI.

  1. I would love to get back into racing games. I spent loads of time playing Ridge Racer and Gran Turismo as a kid. And of course Mario Kart and Wip3Out. These new graphics though, man, it’s almost too realistic.

  2. It’s been a while since I last played a racing game, in fact, I remember the last racing game I played and that was Forza Horizon 5.

I remember when I played Forza Horizon 5, I had a lot of fun with it and there is so much to do as well within the game which is what kept me hooked.

The new Forza Motorsport I have yet to try but my son played it on release and was not impressed.

  3. Of all the games mentioned here I love Need for Speed series, it’s just a classic. I wanted to try the remastered version by sadly my PC is not strong enough to run it. What is amazing is how the games developed in terms of graphics. It’s just incredible.

Here, I would like to try out Dirt Rally 2.0 for sure. It just looks lovely.

  4. Forza Horizon 5 is one of my best racing games. The thrills that it comes with is one that make it fun to play. I was not top keen on playing the racing games since I was introduced to Forza Horizon 5 by a friend.

  5. Some great titles have been mentioned here. The problem with some racing games is that they become very repetitive, very quickly unless new maps are regularly released by the game developers. Great blog post.
